| Bodog is an independent site developed by one of the leading online sportsbooks and has been supported with an extensive advertising campaign. The software is fast and intuitive with simple, pleasing graphics. If you’re a limit game player looking to multi-table, manage your expectations--most of the action of the site is no limit--but if you're an NL player, this is your site. In many of the ring games, 40+% of players routinely see the flop and the play is best described as a free-for-all. You’ll be startled (but pleased!) by what some of these guys call pre-flop raises with--J2 suited, Q8o, the Doyle Brunson--and you'll get stung at the river by hands you don't expect. But if you dig in and play tight, aggressive poker, your NETeller account will expand like the waistline of middle America. Similarly, if you play tournaments, Bodog will quickly become one of your favorite sites. The daily and weekly guaranteed MTTs almost always have overlays, the sit n go play is weak and tournament rake counts toward bonus clearing at the most generous rate we’ve seen. Finally, Bodog offers an unlimited reload bonus--10% on all deposits, no max. Overall, this a MUST PLAY site for a good NL player. |

| Ring game play clears bonus? |
yes |
| You receive 1 Bodog point of each $1 raked hand, and 3 Bodog points are needed to clear $1 of bonus. Therefore, 300 raked hands are needed to clear a $100 bonus; at 35 raked hands per hour in a $2/4 game, you'll clear the bonus in about 9 hours. |
| Tournament play clears bonus? |
yes |
| Players receive 3 Bodog points for each $1 of tournament fees, and 3 Bodog points are required to clear $1 of bonus money. As a result, 100% of your tournament fees are refunded when clearing a bonus. This is the most generous clearing rate for tournament players we've seen. |

- Great selection of loose, lower limit NL cash games
- Good selection of sit n gos; at $30 and below, they seat quickly
- Decent selection of MTTs; most of the guaranteed tournaments have nice overlays
- You can pick your felt color (red, blue, green...see the blue above)
- The QuickSeat feature allows you to pick a game type and size from the lobby and get seated immediately
- There's a "bet pot" button in NL games
- Immediate customer service available by phone
- Help and tournament info is clear and readily available on the website
- 10% reload bonus on every deposit |
- The SnG blind structure takes some getting used to; they start lower (5/10) and increase more rapidly (70% avg) than at other sites
- The site recently upgraded its interface; some of the bugs are still being worked out
- The card graphics could be larger; it's not easy to multi-table or play on a smaller screen
- Players are limited to playing 3 tables at once
- When you join a ring game, the default setting posts your blind out of turn |
Why you should play the site
- There's lots of loose NL cash games with flop%s of 50+%
- The $100K Gtd...$100 buy-in, Sun at 4p EST offers an overlay of 30%+
- Many of the other gtd MTTs have similar overlays
- The bonus clearance rates are among the best we've seen for ring and tournament players
- Bodog offers "beginner" tournaments which pay 2x as many spots as regular tourneys
- The site advertises aggressively, drawing a regular flow of new players and action to the site
- Repeat: OVERLAYS! |
- Bodog's bonus clears quicker than most; figure 300 raked ring hands to clear $100
- NL cash games are plentiful and profitable, but limit games are scarce
- Flop %s are visible from the lobby helping game selection
- HHs are available real-time and detailed player stats are available at the table
- Players can multi-table via a picture-in-picture or separate tables; see the picture-in-picture above; 3 tables max
- As of Mar 06, Bodog is not supported by PokerTracker |
For the tournament player
- 100% of tournament fees are refunded while clearing the bonus
- SnGs with buy-ins <$30 seat relatively quickly
- Bodog's blind structure favors tight play early but increases sharply at level 5
- The guaranteed MTTs offer SICK overlays
- MTT tournament lobbies are exceptional; lots of relevant info presented clearly
- There are "beginner" MTT and SnG events; they pay 2x as many places as regular tourneys
- The site offers ongoing satellites to several WPT and WSOP events |
- Select "Wait for Big Blind" when you first sit down at a table; the default setting posts your blind out of turn
- The deposit/reload bonus (10% on any deposit) clears quickly for ring AND tournament players
- The bigger guaranteed tournaments ($25K, $100K) typically offer an overlay
- Bodog points accumulate quickly; use them for freeroll entries or watch for promotions to convert them to cash |
- Josh Arieh, David Williams Jamie Gold and Evelyn Ng are sponsored by the site; when any of them are seated, the chips fly!
- If you're used to Party or Stars, you'll need to adjust to Bodog's SnGs; the blinds start low (5/10) but increase at a 70% clip
- Bodog offers a great refer-a-friend program; earn 40% of their first deposit up to max of $200
- It's worth browsing Bodog's website(s); the help...and the Bodog girls...are first-rate |

| Bodog recently underwent a significant overhaul to its software interface. Changes include the ability to select background colors (red, blue or green), multi-tabling via picture-in-picture or separate tables, a QuickSeat function which allows you to go directly to a game based on parameters given and automatic seating in the same spot (front and center). New players will find that Bodog's lobby is clear, full of relevant info, and it's easy to sort for and find your favorite game. Ring game players note--flop percentages are available from the lobby. At the table, action is easy to follow--you can opt to show the bet and pot amounts. If you're multi-tabling (3 max), playing on a laptop or just staring at the computer too long, clubs and spades can be hard to distinguish especially given the picture in picture method of multi-tabling. There's a four color option, of course, but the card graphics could definitely be larger. On the plus side, the betting buttons are intuitive and well-placed; note: the raise button is a RAISE TO button. Hand histories are available real-time, easy to review and include mucked cards. In addition, you can pull up HHs by date and scroll through ones you'd like to review. Detailed player stats are available at the table and aggregate for all the tables you have open. The player notes feature is functional, but the "note" icon on a player could be more prominent. On all-ins, both players cards are visible from the call in both tournaments and ring games. You can post a custom image, but the table graphics make it less distracting than on other sites (Absolute, PokerStars, etc.). |
| Hand histories are stored locally and accessible real-time. It's easy to review past hands and they include mucked cards. As of Mar 06, there is no PokerTracker support for Bodog. |
