Ok, I know that it has been a while since I posted, but I have been swamped at work. I recently got promoted to a different job, so the transition has been kind of difficult, but everything will be fine in due time. I know that is not an viable excuse, but all the spare time that I have once I get home is going to either changing diapers, feeding Harper a bottle, watching football and then if I am not dead tired I will play some poker. The most I usually will play on a weekday is about an hour and even then I kind of feel bad, because in my gut I feel like my wife is having to do all the work around the house while I play poker on the internet. It is very difficult adjusting to having someone else around the house that you must take care of every second he isn’t sleeping, but I wouldn’t change that for any amount of money in the world. I love my little man with my whole heart.
I was approached by the one soul who reads my blog and he suggested that I make this blog about something so that it would push me to write more than once or twice every two weeks. I have decided to make this a bankroll building blog. I know that there are so many blogs out there that deal with bankroll building and I am sure that no one wants another one, but guess what. I DON’T CARE. This is my blog and if you don’t want to read it C-YA. I will mostly be blogging about my bankroll and my family from here on out.
I have one pretty simple goal that I will try to accomplish before the year is out. I am going to try my hardest to have a $8-10K bankroll by the time I go to Tunica for the WPT World Poker Open in January 2008. When I am in Tunica during a major tourney, I usually play low limit NL cash games ($1/$2 or $1/$3) and sometimes even dip into the second chance tourneys that are spread every night. I usually go to Tunica with about $1K in my pocket and if I have a bad run in the $1/$2 or $1/$3 game I am usually not able to take shots at the second chance tourneys, mostly because I don’t have enough money in my roll. If I can get my roll to around $8K by January 2008 I will have enough money to withstand variance and play in all the smaller tourneys/satellites that I want.
Once I get to a $5K live bankroll I will move up to $2/$5 NL at my local casino, where I have been wrecking the game since I turned 21. I currently play $1/$2 there and I have been told that the $2/$5 game is even softer. I also hope to win my way into a major live tourney in 2008, but first I got to get this thing I call a bankroll a little higher before I dream of taking down the WSOP in 2008.
My entire online roll of $1,500 is on Bodog and I am currently 3 tabling $100NL. I have about a $1K live roll that I use for live play and home games. In total I currently have $2,500 that I need to turn into $8K by January 2008. Does this sound doable? I will take a shot at $200NL on Bodog once I get to $2400. I know this isn’t bankroll protocol, but I don’t do this professionally, so 12 BIs for a certain level is ok for shot taking IMO. If I ever drop below 10BIs for a certain level I will move down a level.
Tonight I won $20 messing around playing some fixed limit games on Bodog, while playing in a satellite to the $100K, which I didn’t win. My Bodog bankroll currently is at
$1,540. Total bankroll is at
$2,540 I will update this every day that I play, win or lose.
