My Future as a Poker Player

April online results were pretty solid. I didn’t get to play as much as I wanted to, but who does right? I did all of my playing back at my old home of Bodog where I played mostly $50NL with a little bit of PLO to make the degenerate inside of me smile. I made my standard 10BIs that I was making before I tried out the rock garden over at PokerStars. I know that Stars has a wonderful VIP Program and awesome tourneys, but I don’t understand why people love banging there head against a wall over there. I guess you can say that I am a Bodog man through and through. It was hard to leave Bodog at first, but it was really easy to go back. I mean when you can consistently beat a game for 8-10ptbb/100, why would you want to scratch and claw your way around the sharks at ‘Stars? I am sure Landlord79 has an answer, if you want to know just ask him.

I made a single trip to my home casino, HSBC, and I ended up losing one BI ($300) when a guy goes runner- runner Ts for Quads on me. It was gross. Landlord79 was watching as the hand happened and we just stood there in amazement. I just laughed and we had an interesting story to talk about on the way home.

I have been playing poker for close to 10 years and I just recently made a vow to myself that if I am going to waste my time playing, I am going to try and make some money at it. So starting in June, I am either going BUSTO or ROBUSTO by playing nothing less than $200NL on Bodog. I am using this month to play $100NL and $200NL trying to get as close to 15BI’s for $200NL as I can. I know that 15BIs for a level isn’t considered good bankroll management, but I am just tired of wasting my time on the internet when I get home for Snickers bars.

If I bust my roll doing this, I will take a long break and figure out what the next step for me will be. I hope by updating my blog more and posting results more frequently will help me along the way.

Wish me luck

PS----I am looking for a Hand History Converter for Bodog HH’s if anyone knows of one? Poker Zion used to have one, but for some reason it doesn’t work now that two rags updated their site. I had to manually enter the suits on the cards and that sucks, IMO. Damn you ED.

PSS--- I run so good on Bodog. This hand was from last month. My first ever Royal Flush. I thought I was about to get some action when the board paired.

P-LOLercoaster

So this weekend I was watching the NFL Draft and I fired up my laptop to mess around with some PLO and in < 2hrs I ended up winning 10 BI’s. Too bad it was at $25PLO. I am sure that my luckbox will run out and I will be cussing this game come tomorrow, but man it sure was fun.

For all of those dying to know I am up ~12BIs @ $50NL this month and beating Bodog at 12bb/100.

I will post monthly graph and results along with some sexy hand historys in a couple of days.

Good Luck

You Sir are a Donkey, HEEE-HAWWW

I have had a pretty crappy year, poker wise. I have yet to have a winning month and it is making me doubt my ability as a poker player. Do I suck or is it just the thing they call variance kicking in.

I have given up on PokerStars and I am now back playing weaker competition over at Bodog. I am boring myself to tears by only being able to play 3 tables at a time, but I think it makes me focus more on the hands I do play. When I was 15 tabling over at Stars I was pretty much on auto pilot and felt like I was very exploitable. Now I am playing the way I feel comfortable and not the way 2+2 says I should.

I took half of my live roll and deposited it on Bodog and for now I still have money on PokerStars, because I am going to try and get another VIP bonus before I cash out for good. I will cash out my entire Stars roll once I get that VIP bonus and replenish my live roll. Kind of confusing I know, but I swear there is a method to my madness. I spoke with Landlord79 about maybe keeping some money on Stars just so I could dabble around in some tourneys, but we decided that it would be best to get my live roll back to where I feel comfortable before I go donking it off in massive tourney fields.

I plan on making another trip over to the'Shoe this Sunday with a good friend of mine who got me started going to play poker in a casino. We haven’t played any poker together in probably 2-3 years, so this trip should at least be quite fun if not profitable. Lets all hope that it will be both fun and profitable. I need a nice profit this month if I want to be able to make it down to New Orleans for the WSOPC Event in May.

I started the month good as I am up ~2 BIs and beating my game at 12bb/100.

Wish me luck.

PS-Wife had kidney stones over last weekend. She says they are worst than birth. I have never had one, but I saw what birth looked like and I can only imagine how it felt.

PSS-Kid’s ears are doing much better. He is sleeping through the night which makes us all happy.

Gooooooooot Friday

I was very fortunate to have Good Friday off from my job, so you can guess how I spent my day off. That’s right. I made a trip to the 'Shoe.

I arrived at the 'Shoe around noon and when I walked into the room I was shocked to see that the room was rocking. I went directly to the brush and checked in with them. I then went and scouted the tables and I found out why the room was banging so early in the afternoon. They had a $75+$40+$40 unlimited rebuys for the first 90 minutes tourney going on. I was disappointed that I didn’t get to participate, because there was some fishy play from what I witnessed. They tourney had about 60 runners and first place was $4K. I am already making plans to make that tourney on July 4th. That is the next Friday that I will be off from work.

My wife was coming over to Bossier to meet up with me after she got off work so we could enjoy a night together alone. I knew I didn’t have long to play and when it took me 30 minutes to get seated in a $1-$3NL game I was kind of bummed, but I passed the time donking around in the 4-8 Limit game. I vowed the last time I dumped $300 playing limit poker without winning a hand that I would never play limit again. I played about 2 orbits and lost $8. The only playable hand I had was KK in the SB when it folded to me and I chopped the blinds with the guy next to me.

I was finally seated in my NL game and I noticed 2 regs. They were older men. Pretty much ABC players. You know the kind I am talking about if you play live poker. All you have to do is raise to ISO them and CBET. If they don’t have anything they fold. If they give you any resistance, give it up. The rest of the table was Weak Passive.

I was up about $40 when the first interesting hand came up. I was on the button and follow 4 limpers with 9T. The flop was 778. Checks to me and I semi bluff $10 into the pot. I get two callers. The turn was a 6. BINGO. I filled my straight and when it checked to me again I bet $20 and much to my surprise I got one caller on my right. 3 on the river and he checks to me again. I make a value bet of $25 and then the guy min raises me!!! I pay him off thinking he went runner runner flush on me, but he turns over 78. Well played buddy. Way to maximize your big hands.

I chipped up to +$20 when the following hand happens. A short stack from UTG raises All-In to $6 every folds to a weak passive player on the button who calls. I sweat AK from the SB and I bump it to $26 straight. Button calls and the flop reveals an 8-9-4r. I notice that the button checks out of turn and I fire $40 at the pot. He calls. Uh ohhhh. 2 on the turn and I fire another $85 at the pot, but this time he folds. Whewwwww. I thought I learned my lesson the last time I tried to bluff in a live game. LOL. I drag the nice sidepot, but the All-In raiser turns over 4-4 for a set. Oh well. After the hand I told the guy I knew he didn’t have a strong hand because he checked out of turn. I made $60 off of him, so the coaching lesson wasn’t free for him. I was proud of myself that I picked up on him checking out of turn and I actually followed through with a 2 barrell bluff with AK. He said he J-T for the straight draw.

A couple of orbits go by and my wife calls me and says that she is getting into Bossier. I cash out my $105 win and call it a day. I promptly hand my winnings over to her. Women are the rake guys!!! Don’t forget it.

Good Luck Guys!!!!

Welcome Back, Mr_Taterhead

I am so tired of banging my head against the wall at PokerStars. I am taking a break from Stars and heading back over to Bodog, where I was beating $100NL @ ~8BB/100. I am a winner over at 'Stars, but its nothing to write home about, ~1BB/100 over 35K hands. I am keeping some money on Stars for some tourneys and WSOP Steps, but I will be concentrating on trying to clear the 100% Reload Bonus on Bodog. I cant wait for the light stackage that is sure to happen. I need to pad my bankroll so I can make the WSOPC in New Orleans.

Tomorrow my son is going under the knife!!!!! He is getting tubes put in his ears. Hopefully the ear infection he has had for 3 months will finally clear up. They say that getting tubes will do wonders. Lets hope so. 2:30 wake up calls are not very fun when you have an 8-5 job.

Good Luck Guys!!!!
