BPS and HPT

Haven’t been doing much of anything lately. Things are going to start picking up this week though. I did an interview for PokerRoad on one of their shows, Big Poker Sundays. There ended up being an audio issue, so there’s some static, but still some good content in there. Shaniac, Deeb and Shronk hosted.

Besides that, I’ll be driving up for the HPT $1,500 event at TS in a couple days. Might be sort of a weird trip since most of my > 21 friends are obviously at the WSOP. Whatever though, nothing better to do, may as well go.

Unreal.....

Over the weekend I went up to Turning Stone with some friends from home. I went up mostly to hang out with my friends and have fun, which I did. I also just felt like playing some live poker - which I haven’t done since Vancouver.

When I first got there I noticed TS changed their NL games. Not that I care much about the cash games anyways, but they have 1/2NL 100max, 2/3NL 200max, 2/5NL 300max, and 5/5NL 500max.

Now, what I fail to understand is this.

Why not start with 100 big blinds? I really don’t get this. Many casino’s games are uncapped, or 200bb’s buyin’s. NOT 50-60bb’s deep.

Whatever…

I ended up making a couple buyins at 2/5NL. A couple people went nuts as soon as I told them my 2+2 name, lol. I’m still not 100% used to getting recognized, but with PokerVT growing I guess I’m going to have to get used to it.

Unfortunately I ended up being the biggest loser on the trip, despite making a couple buyins at 2/5NL. No, I didn’t blow money at the pit. My wallet was lost/stolen near the end of the trip. It was lost between a rest stop and the drive back home, so I’m pretty sure it’s long gone. It had around $1,300 in it, all of my bank cards, along with my license, and insurance stuff.

Talk about a pain in the ass. God damnit.

I obviously already cancelled the cards, and got new a license too. I’m somewhat concerned someone might try to steal my identity…but then again, I’m pretty sure I’m the only Adam Junglen around (pretty sure it’d be easier to steal a more common name’s identity), and my license had mostly outdated information. Ehh, guess we’ll just have to see. If someone reading this has found my wallet, then I’d really appreciate it if you returned it to me. Obviously I don’t like my odds of ever seeing my wallet again, but hey - maybe someone found it, googled my name and found my blog. I just have a hard time believing someone who found my wallet with all that cash in it wouldn’t take it. Well, it’s worth a shot. If you’ve found my wallet I’d really appreciate it if you contacted me. Thanks.

It sure sucks being < 21 during the WSOP. Like, this really sucks. I've been playing NLH since I was 16, and ever since then wanted to play in the WSOP.....so it'll be 5 years of waiting by the time I turn 21. That's sick. I've been following all of the coverage on PokerNews and PokerRoad. Eugene Todd Bro’s segment “Smoke break” on PokerRoad is very entertaining. I’m pretty impressed with all the great content Pokerroad’s got up.

While on the subject of WSOP Coverage, congratulations to Daniel Negreanu for taking down the $2k LHE event. Nice job man, you’re not all washed up after all! =)

Also, congrats to Vanessa “fslexcduck” Selbt for taking down the $1,500 PLO, Justin Bonomo on your second place finish in the $5k Mixed Hold’em, and Leo Wolpert on chopping the $5k Shootout (taking 3rd officially). I apologize if I missed any of my other friends on this list, but there’s like 6 WSOP tournaments going on at once, and it’s tough to keep up with all the events.

I’ve been grinding out some SNG’s lately. I’m going to be doing an instructional SNG series (9 handed - 45mans) for PokerVT, so I’m getting back into the SNG frame of mind. When I first started playing online poker, I was grinding SNG’s. I remember 8 tabling $6.50’s for the first time and thinking I was badass. Haha, good times. I’m having fun playing something else besides MTT’s too. The SNG’s are a nice change of pace too.

GL everyone at the WSOP!!!

Quicky

Just letting you guys know there was a content update at PokerVT, which includes the replay of my Sunday Million win from July 2007.

Check it out

Bleh...

Well, it’s officially June. The weather’s starting to get a bit nicer here in Ohio, which is always nice.

I think it’s been about 2 weeks since I’ve played the Sunday MTT’s. If I recall correctly, I just didn’t feel like playing one week, and the other week I was busy with some family stuff.

I did play yesterday, although I didn’t have any significant cashes. Heh, I haven’t posted about online mtt results in quite awhile. Back when I first started blogging, Sunday MTT’s were all I blogged about.

I managed to build stacks in most of the major’s, but as per usual, I was left frustrated and disappointed. I ended up losing back to back coinflips in the Sunday Mulligan on FTP with around 40 left. In the PS Warm-Up I built up to around 250k and then proceeded to get cold-decked and busted near 150th place (3,000+ entrants, 1st paid > $100k).

I think I broke even overall on the day…*shrug*

This weekend I’m going to be heading to TS with a couple local friends. Just a short weekend trip, but I’m sure it’ll be a fun time. I’m aware TS is running an HPT Series later in June, and there’s a decent chance I’ll be back again for that as well.

We’ll see though, I might end up in Vegas to visit some people during the WSOP.

Well everyone, I’ve been awake for around 20 hours straight and am about ready to pass out.

Looking Ahead

Well, the WSOP is about to start, which means…..not much for me. Those of you that have been keeping up with my blog for the past year will remember my posts about going to last years series. It’s always fun hanging out with everyone, but it really sucks being under 21 in LV. We’ll see though. There’s a decent chance I end up going anyways.

The Exec’s at PokerVT have told me they’re going to be letting me use the studio for a week in late July. I’m very much looking forward to having the VT studio at my disposal. I’m really gonna work hard and try to use all of this incredible technology to it’s fullest potential.

Hopefully my August/Sept schedule will be similar to last year (EPT Barcelona + WSOPE). So far they’ve just said that WSOPE 2008 is from September 19th - October 1st, but no word on specific events, or the EPT schedule until later. I certainly hope they have more events than they did last year for WSOPE.

So, yes - at the moment I’m planning on going to Europe for a few events before I turn 21 in October. Poker is just too big in Europe to pass up on. Once I’m 21 I’ll be likely be playing Foxwoods in November, then in December I’m going to be renting out a unit in Panorama Towers for the Bellagio 5 Diamond Series. I’m very excited about this.

That’s what I’ve got ahead of me. Until then, I’m really gonna try to put in some hours online next week. I’ll be recording for PokerVT sometimes, so I’ll be going over some smaller - middle buyin MTT’s, such as more 4max, 20/180s, 36/180s, 60/45s, since most of my current videos are HS MTT’s. I’m looking forward to a change of pace anyways. I won’t be completely ignoring the regular MTT schedule either.

Once June comes I hope to start hanging out with my local friends that are on break from college. I have a great group of friends who I met in HS. We were all poker players. Actually we first started playing in 10th grade, and our local home game mtt would have between 12-24 players on average (9-12th grade) and at the end of each tournament we all noticed we were the last ones around or making consistent FT’s (there’s 5 or 6 of us). Everyone else had been eliminated and left. So we found ourselves hanging out together more, and that was my “high school clique”, or group of friends, w/e. We were always playing, and discussing poker, watching HSP, WSOP, WPT, etc. A handful of them still play a fair amount, some more than others. I’m not sure why some of them didn’t really pursue poker further. I mean, going to school is fine, but it’s not like you don’t have enough time to grind out some online sessions, and study the game. Although I’m not blaming them at all if they thought the poker lifestyle just wasn’t for them.

Maybe I just loved the game so much more than they did. When I first started, especially when I’d find myself playing in a closed greek restaurant at 1:00am, playing cash games against people who didn’t speak english…I just LOVED poker. I started blogging right when I started playing poker. My first entry is 6/30/2004 (all of my old blogs have been archived/deleted fwiw….book material, lol?). I’d track all of my results when I played with my sisters boss at the time, and now my friend Vince, and his crew. I’d keep track of how I played hands against 80 year old calling stations, and throw a tirade when I’d lose to a 2 outer.

…..LOL, pardon my random nostalgia. But honestly, for the last month or so I’ve really slowed down. I feel like I’m starting to really enjoy poker again and I’m having fun with everything going on.

It’s unrealistic to set a goal to have the same results I had last summer, but I’m gonna do my best. It looks like I’ll be spending some time at TS this June too.

Hope you guys enjoyed this ramble! Send me any questions or whatever.
