Overview

Foxwoods is an Indian casino located in Connecticut and within driving distance of NYC. It is billed as the largest casino in the world. Since its opening it has created an alternative poker destination to Atlantic City for players in the Metropolitan NY area. While the poker room is not the largest room in the world, it is very large with over 100 tables.
The room uses an electronic waiting list with several screens showing where you stand on the list. We found wait times to be very reasonable and the friendly staff helps keep things moving. They offer a variety of games, but do focus on limit and no limit hold'em. There are several 7 card stud and Omhaha games running at all times. The room is open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and we found the room to be quite busy at all hours of the night, even during the week.
Throughout the year, Foxwoods holds satellites to the WPT event held at the casino. They run tournaments around the clock and have 'ACT' satellite tournaments to qualify for a seat in their WPT main event. The ACTs start at a low $60 buy-in and run all day long. The poker room also offers round-the-clock one table Sit & Go Tournaments. There are three buy-in levels $120, $230 and $550. Each are played 10 handed with 15 minute levels. They all pay 3 places. The $120 starts with $1,500 chips, the $230 starts with $2,000 chips and the $550 starts with $2,500 chips.
