I guess if you take a look at some of the links on my sidebar, there’s a variety of sites. Well, they used to just links to my friends and some of my favorite sites. Well, since I’m so involved at PokerVT, instead of having a link, they’ve given me a bonus code for the lucky readers of my blog.

——Plug——–

If you type “Junglen†(not case sensitive) while registering for PokerVT in the “Promo Code†box (no direct link yet, just the code), you’ll receive 10% off of the initial sign up fee. We’re also currently running a promotion where you receive an additional 60 days free when you sign up. Not too shabby, eh?

——End Plug——–

I’ve been keeping busy outside of poker lately, with it being summer and all. Trying to spend time with friends home from school and such. I still plan on heading to Vegas in a couple weeks to do some work on VT, but besides that I don’t have anything exciting planned for August yet (which may change).
Well, there was no repeat TV appearance for me. I busted in the 3rd level of the HPT $1.5k with Kings against my opponents turned set of 8s. It was a spot I'd go broke in if I found myself there again, so no prob. Congratulations to Danny "KingDan" Smith on winning it for about $100k.

Now, I'm not going to say that this is going to be my last TS trip. However, it's certainly possible it'll be my last time here in awhile. I've got to fly to Vegas and work on PokerVT next month, so I won't be able to attend the July series. August is up in the air, it'll depend on who else is going and how I'm feeling. I honestly can't stand to live at TS for more than 4-5 days though, and the August series was about 10 days last year. Not to mention EPT Barcelona is right around the corner in September. The HPT they announced they were holding a $5k event at Turning Stone on October 18th, my 21st birthday. Which of course is when Bellagio is holding their Fiesta Al Lago series.
Well, for some reason or another, I find myself back here at Turning Stone for the HPT. Not really sure why, which usually means it's a bunch of small reasons. I guess I don't have anything better to do, and haven't played live poker in a month. I'm also going to be driving back with my friend Adam Shuman, who's tagging along back to Ohio again.

I busted out of the $550 in 33rd yesterday, when 20 paid. At 500/1k/100 I was in the BB holding A4o and had 16.5k or so. The CO opened for 3,000 and I shoved. When it got back to him, he hemmed and hawwed, and eventually made the call. He started the hand with a couple hundred more chips than me, which is also one of the reason's why I jammed A4o there. Regardless, he called off (basically) his entire stack and showed J9s.

I lost the 57/43 or w/e it is and hung out with Randal the rest of the night. During the early-middle stages I built up a stack to around 30k, but could never get much going once we were deep.
Haven’t been doing much of anything lately. Things are going to start picking up this week though. I did an interview for PokerRoad on one of their shows, Big Poker Sundays. There ended up being an audio issue, so there’s some static, but still some good content in there. Shaniac, Deeb and Shronk hosted.

Besides that, I’ll be driving up for the HPT $1,500 event at TS in a couple days. Might be sort of a weird trip since most of my > 21 friends are obviously at the WSOP. Whatever though, nothing better to do, may as well go.

Over the weekend I went up to Turning Stone with some friends from home. I went up mostly to hang out with my friends and have fun, which I did. I also just felt like playing some live poker - which I haven’t done since Vancouver.

When I first got there I noticed TS changed their NL games. Not that I care much about the cash games anyways, but they have 1/2NL 100max, 2/3NL 200max, 2/5NL 300max, and 5/5NL 500max.

Now, what I fail to understand is this.

Why not start with 100 big blinds? I really don’t get this. Many casino’s games are uncapped, or 200bb’s buyin’s. NOT 50-60bb’s deep.

Whatever…

I ended up making a couple buyins at 2/5NL. A couple people went nuts as soon as I told them my 2+2 name, lol. I’m still not 100% used to getting recognized, but with PokerVT growing I guess I’m going to have to get used to it.

Unfortunately I ended up being the biggest loser on the trip, despite making a couple buyins at 2/5NL. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Well, it’s officially June. The weather’s starting to get a bit nicer here in Ohio, which is always nice.

I think it’s been about 2 weeks since I’ve played the Sunday MTT’s. If I recall correctly, I just didn’t feel like playing one week, and the other week I was busy with some family stuff.

I did play yesterday, although I didn’t have any significant cashes. Heh, I haven’t posted about online mtt results in quite awhile. Back when I first started blogging, Sunday MTT’s were all I blogged about.

I managed to build stacks in most of the major’s, but as per usual, I was left frustrated and disappointed. I ended up losing back to back coinflips in the Sunday Mulligan on FTP with around 40 left. In the PS Warm-Up I built up to around 250k and then proceeded to get cold-decked and busted near 150th place (3,000+ entrants, 1st paid > $100k). [[ This is a content summary only.
Well, the WSOP is about to start, which means…..not much for me. Those of you that have been keeping up with my blog for the past year will remember my posts about going to last years series. It’s always fun hanging out with everyone, but it really sucks being under 21 in LV. We’ll see though. There’s a decent chance I end up going anyways.

The Exec’s at PokerVT have told me they’re going to be letting me use the studio for a week in late July. I’m very much looking forward to having the VT studio at my disposal. I’m really gonna work hard and try to use all of this incredible technology to it’s fullest potential.

Hopefully my August/Sept schedule will be similar to last year (EPT Barcelona + WSOPE). So far they’ve just said that WSOPE 2008 is from September 19th - October 1st, but no word on specific events, or the EPT schedule until later. I certainly hope they have more events than they did last year for WSOPE. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

While on the plane back home I finally finished an article for Bluff. It’s pretty basic, and geared towards beginners transitioning from online to live play. It’ll be published in July’s issue, so…that’ll be kinda cool.

Yesterday was the $3k, and now I’m officially busto from everything here.

Bleh

The main event had 302 entrants, and I believe first paid around $275k. Well, that’s not too big of a concern now that I’m eliminated. I lasted about 6 hours. I never accumulated too many chips, but feel as though most of my reads were on, and that I was playing well.

We started with 15k, and I hovered between 12k-24k all day. I don’t think I played more than one 5 figure pot. It was just one of those days. I also had several aggressive players to my left, so that didn’t make life easier. I started my bust-out hand with roughly 16,600, and my opponent covered me by about 8-10k. With blinds at 150/300/25, he opened the button for 900. The small blind folded, and I pick up AKo in the BB.

Well, this opponent (BB) had played with me for a good portion of the $1k bounty on the 7th, and he had been moved to the table roughly 90 minutes ago when this hand came up. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Yup, that’s what the events here in Vancouver are being called. WPT Canada, short for “World Poker Tour: Canadaâ€

….Right…

Well, regardless of whether or not the name makes sense, I’m having a pretty good time here. Of course, I’d be having a better time if I hadn’t been knocked out of the $1k bounty today, but oh well.

We started with 10k, and 25/50 blinds and 45min levels. A pretty good structure for a $1k, I really don’t care to grind out long levels for a $1k. But for a 2 day event (2 days, plus final table), it was great. Being a bounty was a neat experience as well. It was the first live tournament I’d played in a few months, and I think I played pretty well. I didn’t open nearly as many pots as I normally do, and just hovered between 7-13k playing pretty patiently. At 200/400/25 I got my last 11k in the middle with 99 vs Ah 2h on the Kh 9h 3x flop.
Sorry for the lack of content recently. It’s been a difficult few weeks for my family and I.

I’ve actually been somewhat sick and out of it lately. I really wish that was the only bad news I have, but it isn’t.

Roughly 3-4 weeks ago, my Uncle John (my mother’s brother) was diagnosed with Leukemia. He was given 50% chance to live a year. News like this always hits hard, but John and our family seemed optimistic. About a week later, I visited him at the hospital to drop off some DVD’s and talk. He seemed to be doing alright, and I was fortunate to have a nice hour-long, “heart to heart†talk with John.

About a week after I had talked to John, I got a call from my mom informing me that John wasn’t doing well at all. His condition was rapidly worsening, and I’m deeply saddened to say that he’s no longer with us. My Uncle John (I believe 56 years old, I’ll fix later if wrong) passed away on Friday night. He will be severely missed. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

While your there, check out my EPT Barcelona coverage if you haven't already. To get there, just click "EPT Season 4" on the right under "TV Poker Shows." I forget which exact episodes I'm in, but I bust out during Episode 3 part 1, so most of my hands are during episodes 1 and 2.

Oh, and for the record, my last name is pronounced just as it appears. Not "Younglen." It's Junglen....with the letter "Jay." Is it really that hard?

I've actually been keeping fairly busy lately. That's right, the content that's found in these entries may actually occur!

Well, I'll stop with the sarcasm, but things are going great, and I'm doing good as well. With my last post being so negative (unable to attend EPT MC), I've been taking advantage of the positive attributes of the situation. Basically, I've been keeping busy.

On Friday, on a complete whim, I decided to the nightly tournaments. As far as online tournaments go, Thursdays and Fridays are a double edged sword. The fields are generally softer and smaller, but that's because there aren't any large buy-in tournaments on either of those days. I did manage to final table the Stars Nightly Hundred Grand ($150+12 buyin), but busted out disappointingly in 7th for around $4k.

The Sunday tournaments were beyond frustrating. It was the quarterly $1k Million, which was one of the biggest online tournaments of all time - 1st was $366k. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

This really sucks, but I'm going to have to cancel the trip to Monte Carlo.

Sorry on the false report. I arranged a Dollar to Euro transfer and even could've roomed with Watts again. Unfortunately, for a couple of reasons I'm not going to be going (no, not busto). I couldn't find any reasonable flights (I found one with 2 stops both ways with a very long layover for 3k, lol), combined with the fact that I always hear about flight delays when going to France, and experienced one myself last year, landing 4 hours before playing the $15k USD event. I just decided to skip it.

Considering I haven't played a live major in awhile, I almost feel obligated to just deal with it and go - but I've got some work around here to keep me busy.

Next month is the EPT Grand Finale in Monte Carlo.

Last year Gavin Griffin took down the title and over $2.2 million. Aside from WSOPE, I believe this is the most prestigious tournament in Europe. I suspect the prize pool is going to increase a fair bit this year too, with poker growing in Europe, and Pokerstars running plenty of satellites.

Despite still enjoying my time around home, I just can’t miss this tournament. Aside from the €10,000 buy-in main event, they have several smaller prelim’s as well. It’s been awhile since I’ve played a live major and I’m getting the itch to put up some good results. I’ll be staying at the same hotel as last year (which was beautiful, the Monte Carlo Bay) with Michael (Sir)Watts.

It’s always kind of hectic planning these trips. Especially dealing with international travel. I might try to stop by some nearby destinations in Europe before I get into the poker mindset and land in Monaco on April 11th.

The other day I spoke with the Editor-in-Chief of Bluff Magazine, Mr. Matthew Parvis.

We discussed the possibility of having me write for Bluff. After discussing some personal terms I had, I'm happy to say I've managed to leverage my general reputation, as well as raw writing talent showcased in my blog, and put myself in a position to write for one of the biggest poker magazine's out there.

Similar to my approach in MTT's, I'll only be writing when I really feel like, so nothing will be forced. I find the result of this approach seems to equal low quantity, but very high quality - which I think the reader will appreciate more anyways. I already have my first article in mind, but expect everything from trip reports to strategy articles, and everything in between.

Sorry for the lack of recent updates. To be honest, there hasn’t been anything terribly exciting going on.

I really don’t like talking about insignificant results, but on Sunday I managed to make 2 small/medium sized final tables. Before Sunday it’d been about a week since I played, or even thought about poker deeply. Sometimes taking a mental break and really thinking about things is worth a lot more to me than playing the nightly MTT’s.

The two tournaments were the FTP $50 1r/1a, and the Cake 30k. I took 5th in the FTP tournament for around 2k, and 3rd in the Cake tourney for $3.6k. It felt good to play again, and making two FT’s certainly didn’t hurt that feeling.

It’s obviously all over the news here, I’m curious as to how much press this will be getting when I arrive home tomorrow night. Oh wait, no….that sounds like Las Vegas.

I’ve had a good few days here in Vegas, but I don’t think I’ll ever spend time here without thinking how backwards this place can be. Obviously the incident of the HIV/Hepatitis malpractice was coincidental, but there’s a lot of things that could be considered “morally grey,†or just straight up wrong, around me. Maybe it’s the fact I had such a solid family upbringing with good values that makes me kind of tingle when I see a gigantic billboard (with the number) to file for a divorce.
I vividly remember my last trip departing from Las Vegas back home to Cleveland. I told myself I'd never return to Vegas until I was 21. While I had a good time with my friends for a few weeks last summer, it was overall a gigantic tease. Watching huge live events play out everyday (WSOP/Bellagio Cup), was practically torturous.

Well GUESS WHERE I AM!

Haha, I'm currently at the Bellagio (which is v. nice might I add). I'm not here to visit friends like I was last year though - this time around I'm here for PokerVT filming. I didn't sleep on Sunday night and just stayed awake til my flight left at noon on Monday. I got a couple good hours of sleep in on the flight, but I'm obviously still exhausted. I'm currently just relaxin in my room, might hit up the hot tub.

Tomorrow I'll be going over some of my instructional material for PokerVT, as well as random media stuff. The more I realize the potential of this project, the more excited I get. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Hey guys,

I know it’s been awhile since my last entry, just not a lot to report.

I haven’t been playing too much poker. Today was the first day I played tournaments in about 10 days. Although on Saturday I “goofed around†with a friend and played 1/2NL HU and ended up winning 5 buyins off of him ($1k). Then decided to play “pokerts†in a $2k HU SNG and took that down. Besides that, today was the first day I played tournaments in awhile.

I ran into some pretty tough luck in the bigger tournaments. I took 13th in the $100r for $1,880 (1st = $40k). Then lost a race and was busto in the Super Tuesday ($1k buy-in) pretty quickly with AK < QQ AIPF.

Stars has these new 4-max 10min level tournaments, which I really like. I enjoy turbo’s and playing 4-max takes a lot more skill than full ring. At any rate, I cashed in both the $80+8 buyin one (14th for $360), then took 3rd in the $50+5 one for $1.7k. [[ This is a content summary only.
Just a quick update. I recently did an interview for pokertips.org.

Here's the link

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm a pretty brutally honest guy when it comes to my life, and posting these blogs. When they asked what would've happened to me if poker hadn't worked out for me or if I hadn't found it, my answer was "I'd probably be dead."

As over dramatic as it may seem, I have fairly strong convictions that, if I hadn't found poker, that would've been the case.

Poker came into my life just at the right time. As most of you know by now, I was 16 and begun undergoing a series of operations that were torturous, mentally and physically. I feel as though without poker I could have easily became a statistic.

I received a lot of criticism from a blog I wrote awhile ago, "How I got into poker part 3.5. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Let’s see what’s been going lately…

Saturday I slept through the morning tournaments…including the FTOPS $2,500….sigh. I woke up at 3pm and it started at 2pm. Bleh. I decided to just skip the day, and ended up driving around. I soon found myself at the Mall, buying a Playstation 3 with a handful of games and Blu-ray movies. It looks as though the HD-DVD vs. Blu Ray war is over, and Blu Ray has won, so I went ahead and bought a PS3, which has a built in blu ray player, and is nearly the same cost as a stand-alone blu ray player.

Why get a PS3 now? Well, I figured I may as well upgrade to the Blu Ray format with the addition of my new television…..which should be arriving in just about two hours.

Yep, that’s right…the Best Buy Geek Squad is scheduled to come over at 8am to install my new television. I bought the Pionner Kuro 50in Plasma Flat Panel HDTV. It’s been called the best television on the market, and I’m pretty damn excited to get it installed. [[ This is a content summary only. I’m only involved in 2 big hands, but it’s interesting to watch the entire thing, because you’ll be able to see that my opponent was really tilting when he 4-bet me AIPF with QJo and I made the call with ATo. The other hand I’m involved in was the huge value bet I made on the river with QQ on the KJxxx board. I made a huge pot sized river bet vs the perfect opponent and he paid it off. Be sure to check it out.

Today I grinded out a TON of tournaments.

I was actually running horribly in all of the bigger buy-in tournaments. I won’t bore you with specific details, but I was extremely frustrated with how the day was going. Despite all the horrible beats, I played almost every tournament with a buy-in > $50 that was registering from 4pm - 12am. I felt as though I was playing well and the fields were extra big today, making the prize pools even juicer.

Well, I did end up taking 2nd place in the PokerStars $50+5 50k Guarantee. I’m still really frustrated that I lost the heads-up match, as I had my opponent down several times, and then the final hand got the money in as a slight favorite (Overs + FD vs pair), and I couldn’t win the flip. I did make some mistakes HU and was able to recover, but in the end my opponent prevailed. $10k is still a nice payday. [[ This is a content summary only.
Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been keeping busy preparing to move out lately. I get the key to my new place tomorrow, and couldn't be more ready.

I still have a lot of things I need to buy, but I've setup the utilities, and got my own cable guy to hook up my internet and TV the day I move in. I also bought a really nice sofa, some kitchenware and other little things. I'm still debating over whether or not to get a new TV, and there's still a lot of other things I need to buy. It's kind of stressful, but not having money restrictions helps make the process a little more fun.

I'll be sure to post some pictures when I'm all settled.

I've been playing some cash games on some smaller sites lately and have done pretty well. Mostly been playing 2/4 - 5/10NL, and 10/20, 25/50 Capped NL games on FTP. I'm actually unstuck from Australia and have booked a solid winning month. Not exactly how I pictured January, but money's money.

I guess that's it for now.

Well, this trip's sucked.

The 5k HU event went poorly (to say the least). I won game 1 (best 2 of 3), and dropped 2 and 3. Pretty much summarizes the trip. I decided to skip the $2k 6max event (going on right now), and just relax.

I fly out on the 21st around 12:30pm (Australian time), and arrive in LA at 7:30am....on the 21st (lol @ time changes). I'm hangin out in LA for a day, then flying back to CLE on the 22nd.

When I get back home, I'll be pretty busy. I get the key to my new place on the 31st, and haven't bought any furniture yet - so I'll have to get that done. I also have a lot of work to do on the PokerVT. I need to finish up some instructional video's (Most notably is the Sunday Million win), as well as fly out to Vegas to do some work in the studio.
Frustrating Day

Day 2 of the Aussie Millions Main Event ended up being an extremely frustrating day of poker.

I didn’t play any particular large pots, just lost every single small pot. Every continuation bet raised, my sole 3-bet pf of the day was 4-bet on (folded 99, shown QQ), etc. I just couldn’t get anything going, or catch a break. I dwindled down from 60k to 20k, then during the third level of the day (600/1200/200) I got my stack in with a 7 high flush draw vs. durrr’s king high flush draw to bust out.

Bleh, so much for that.

There’s still the $5k Heads up tournament I’m playing tomorrow (Day 1B), and if I don’t make the finals I’ll probably play the $2k shorthanded too. Hopefully I can salvage a cash and not whiff the Aussie Series. Ugh.

Still have some good friends doing well in the main event, and having a good time overall.

Just a quick note from Australia.

Ended day 1 with 60.4k. High point being near 90k, but spewed some off/ran kinda crappy during the last level. I ended day 1 last year with around 40k, so I'm feeling good about my chances. I'm on a nice little run in these major events - this being my 4th consecutive day 2, all of which I've been able to build stacks in.

I continue tomorrow (I believe 7:30pm EST), blinds will be 400/800/100, average stack being around 45k. We'll likely play down to the money. For a number of reasons, some more obvious than others, I'd really like to go deep in this one. It's going to be the last major I play for awhile, and it was also the first major event I'd ever cashed in. Besides WSOPE, this is probably the biggest event an < 21 year old can win, as far as prestige and such. Pretty much whoever wins becomes the Poker icon of the continent for the year.

Well, that's it from Australia.

Lots of funny anecdotes coming from Australia the last few days.

Guess I’ll start with my roommates antics. Jeff played the $100k buyin tournament here, and with 7 left, (5 paid), and a 1st place finish worth over $1.2mil he was holding the chiplead and playing great. Through an extremely unfortunate turn of events, Jeff ended up busting out in 7th, despite playing great, and not making any clear mistakes.

Well, I haven’t decided if it was a good thing or not, but I wasn’t in the room when he got back from the tournament area. I was hanging out with some friends and came back a few hours after reading that Jeff had went apeshit on the room. So, I walked in, noticed a hole in the wall, a cracked television, and Jeff trying to restore a painting that he’d knocked off the wall.

Quick and Painless

Today I played my first event here in Melbourne, a $1,500 event - and it was quick and painless, which was just fine by me.

I ended up getting QQ vs my friend Carl's (colson10) AK AIPF for a around 9,500 at 50/100. EP opened for 300, Carl made it 900 from MP, I picked up QQ in the BB. I normally would've taken a bit more time, but there was a max of 20 seconds to act on your hand. I probably gave away my hand when they started counting down the clock briefly after I mentally counted down my stack to decide how I wanted to play my hand. I came to the conclusion shoving couldn't be bad, so I shoved, Carl made the call with AK and I lost the race.

No biggie, I'd much rather lose a race early in the tournament, than get semi-deep and bust out after several hours. The 20-second clock was annoying though.

Besides the tournament, I've hung out at an FTP party, and just spent some time with a lot of poker friends I haven't seen in a long time. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

After 20+ hours of either being in an airport, or in the air, I've finally made it to the Crown Casino in Melbourne Australia.

Several of my good friends have already put up some good results in the prelim's, including a chop in the $1k by Timex (I believe he won around $110k), and gobboboy won the $500 Stud/Stud8/Razz event for around $15k.

Congratulations to both.

At the moment I'm registered for the $1,500 event (tomorrow) and the $10k Main Event. There's a few other prelim's in between, I'll be sure to let you guys know if I play any of the other one's. I think I might get some cash sessions in as well.

That's about all I've got for now - it's great to be back in Melbourne.

It could’ve been a better Sunday, but I certainly can’t complain.

Just skimming through my blog I really haven’t played much online poker the last few months. Most of the entries past September (WSOPE) are just about how I got into poker, and my life away from poker. I’ve played a few Sundays and cash sessions, but not anywhere close to the volume I did earlier this year.

Well, as I mentioned in my previous post, I did play the Sunday major’s. I wanted to get in the poker mindset to prepare for Australia, plus it was the $1k Sunday Million. I ended up playing the 2:30PM EST $5k, 20 man (2 tables), winner-take-all tournament on Stars, and that ended up being the highlight of my day.

When we were 3 handed we agreed on a chop. With 100k in the prize pool, you have to leave 25k to the winner, so with 3 left (ADZ124, Dariominieri, and myself) we agreed on splitting the remaining 75k based on chip count.
Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I feel somewhat obligated to update since it’s been so long since my last post.

I had a nice Christmas, spending time with my growing family. I’ve also been spending time with my friends that are home from school for the holidays.

I plan on playing the Sunday majors unless something big comes up. It’s the quarterly $1k Sunday Million, meaning a better structure and much larger first place. I’d also like to get some play in before the Aussie Millions. Speaking of which, I’ll be flying to LA with my good friend Ryan on the 6th, be staying over at his place for the night, and then I’ll be catching the FTP flight from LAX to Melbourne around 11pm on the 7th. I know I’ve said it before, but I’m really looking forward to finally playing some live tournaments.

The most recent batch of Sunday tourney’s was pretty sick. UB had their UBOC final, a $1k with a 750k guarantee, and FTP had their monthly million guarantee ($535 buyin). That’s in addition to the standard PS Sunday Million, 2nd chance/mulligan’s, 100r’s, etc.

Well, it simply wasn’t my day. The tournament I went the deepest in was the Bodog $109 30k guarantee. I took 19th (ITM). Funny side note, I ran into AA (in an AIPF situation) FIVE times during this tournament. I cracked them once, but I’m not going to win a tournament anytime soon if I’m running into AA each time I resteal.

Well, I’m not going to continue explaining every single cooler/bad beat I encountered over the course of the day, but needless to say it was an extremely frustrating session.

The weather here in Ohio is really starting to get crappy. I hate the snow, it’s all the more reason to head to Melbourne in January, where it’s nice and sunny. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

"I really haven’t been doing anything too productive lately. I need to finish some paper work and other end of the year errands, but besides that I’m mostly just looking forward to the Aussie Millions.

It’ll be really nice to finally play some live tournaments again. If you can’t tell by now, I definitely enjoy playing live more than online. I plan on playing a few of the preliminary events, and am really looking forward to the main event. I also really enjoyed my time in Melbourne when I visited last year. It’s one of my favorite cities and I’m looking forward to having a lot of fun away from the tables, as well.

After the Aussie Millions, in February I’ll be moving out. I found a nice, brand new, “Apartment Home,†that’s close to home. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Well, yesterday I had my Lasik procedure and it ended up being a bit more of a hassle than I thought it'd be, but it ended up working out fine.

At the moment I'm recovering, so my vision isn't 100% - but I can see pretty well considering I just had the procedure done. I can do most things (after all, I am typing this blog), but things are (expectedly) a little blurry. I should be 100% recovered within a few days. It's very weird not using glasses after having to use them for so many years. There was a moment where I put on my glasses, just by habit, and they made my vision much worse, then I took them off and my vision was much better. Reminded me of the scene in Spiderman when Parker firsts wakes up after getting bitten by the spider and did the same thing.

Anyways, the procedure itself was somewhat of a struggle. I have some eye-twitches and other subconscious movements that I tend to make with my eyes, which ended up messing up the procedure in the post op room. [[ This is a content summary only.
Well, Thanksgiving, my Grandmother's 80th Birthday, as well as some poker has been taking place since my last update.

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone out there. I know it's late, and everyone is already thinking about Christmas, but we all have a great deal to be thankful for. I was extremely lucky to be adopted into my wonderful loving family. My entire family has been extremely supportive as I've developed as a poker player and grown into an adult. They've been behind me my entire life, good times, and bad.

Thank you so much.

For Thanksgiving dinner, we had my mom's side of the family over. After dinner we visited with my Dad's side of the family at my Aunt's.

Let me tell you something, it's a lot of fun to play in the major live events and get recognized. Being asked for a picture, interview, or signing an autograph is pretty cool, but I'll tell you what - It's great to be able to come home to my family and friends and just be Adam Junglen.
I'm pretty much done saying how I got into poker. This entry's going to be a review of my "breakout" summer.

In the spring I had won the $200 HU MTT on PS for $14k or so, and the $10r 55k for about $13k. I was very satisfied with my online results, but one major thing still eluded me. A major live win. In May I was in Vancouver for the Johnny Chan Poker Classic. KalenSC won the first $500 NLH event, then Jeff won the $1k 6max event. The next event was PLH and I final tabled, but ended up losing a critical race at the final table and placed 5th, if I recall correctly for around $13k.

Then later in June I made my first televised final table - a $1k Heartland Poker Tour event at Turning Stone. It wasn't a big deal media wise, but I desperately wanted to win a live tournament. I went into the TV table (final 6) as the chipleader, and played worse than I'm capable of and got coolered out of it to place 4th for ...I don't even remember. Around $12k.
I haven't decided yet if I'm going to continue writing about how I got into poker. For the most part I think I covered most of the real questions of how I first got started, and it's getting to the point where I'm just re-blogging stuff that's simply in my archives. Regardless, I may continue to write about what's happened this year from my current perspective. We'll see though.

Lately I've been pretty busy. First, some fairly big news. I went in for my Lasik consultation, and the doctor told me I had terrible eyes, and that he could fix them forever. Just hearing that sounded great. My surgery will be on the 30th, and I'm looking forward to it.

On to other news, I'll be getting a computer in from the PokerVT to start playing more online. Not only that, but I also just purchased the Dell 30in monitor, and it is a beast. Here's a picture of it sitting on my desk:

After finishing 2006 with my first 5 figure cashes and live tournament success I was ready to take my game to the "big leagues."

After some last minute planning I found myself holding an itinerary with flights from Cleveland to Miami to the Bahamas (WPT-PCA), to Miami, to LAX, to Auckland NZ, to Melbourne for the Aussie Millions (then from Melbourne to LAX to Phoenix to Cleveland...ugh).

Talk about jumping out of the gate head-first, it was a hell of a trip.

Ray won a package to the PCA and was nice enough to let me stay in his room, while I bought in directly. Obviously I didn't have the roll for an $8k event, so I wound up selling around half of my action, same for the Aussie Millions.

The PCA is many poker players favorite stop on the circuit. PokerStars runs a TON of satellites to the event, which is held in the luxurious Atlantis Resort. While the resort was very beautiful, I found the service to be somewhat shady and pretty much everything was overpriced. [[ This is a content summary only.
Before I continue with my live tournament adventures, adding onto my "How I got into Poker (blogs)," I'm going to address the amputation questions that many people have asked, especially after my last entry when I didn't go into detail.

Well, here we go.

I was born with an issue called clubbed feet, and amniotic banding. Amniotic banding result = I have 7 fingers. Not a big deal at all. However, clubbed feet manages to haunt me, still today. It didn't affect my left leg nearly as bad as it affected my right leg. When I was 1, I was adopted to the Junglen family from South Korea. It ended up being one of the best things to ever happen to me. I was adopted to a very loving family, and the doctors in the US were much better than the doctors in Korea. If I were still in Korea, there's a good chance I wouldn't be walking at all.

I could talk about this subject for quite awhile, but I'll try to give you guys a good summary, without taking it too far. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

During May of 2006 there was an MTT competition on 2+2. It was based on the TLB formula on PokerStars. At the time I had mostly posted in the SNG forum and wasn't too well known in the MTT community. I basically decided I was going to take the competition very seriously, and that by the end of the month, everyone would know who I was.

I ended up having multiple 1-3k scores while playing $5 to $50 MTT's. I was very involved in the competition and by the end of the month I had made a lot of new friends. I got to know some friends on the forums including Exitonly, gobbo, Rizen, and more.

I was (still) on crutches as my High School years winded down, recovering from my amputation fix. I missed all of the notable HS events, like Senior Banquet, Prom, even missed graduation. Come to think of it, I still don't physically possess my diploma. *shrug* I ended up going to Turning Stone during the last week of class. [[ This is a content summary only.
I guess I'll continue where I left off when I started writing about how I first got into poker.

After I won the tournament at AJ's I went to Border's Books to find some reading material on my newest hobby. I started playing homegames every weekend with friends and had a decent amount of success. It was a lot of fun, every weekend we'd play a tournament or two, usually 2 tables with a buy-in between $10-$15. I ended up making a lot of great friends, and actually quit my job at Gametrader partly due to the money I was making at homegame tournaments. It really wasn't too difficult to make more in those games than $5.50/hr at Gametrader.

Eventually I took my game online. I would have my friend transfer me $50 or $100 at a time on Party. I was underage at the time, so I couldn't deposit myself. For quite awhile I just broke even or lost at the $5 and $10 SNG levels. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]
