  Our quick thoughts
PokerHost is a small site affiliated with SBG Global, a leading online sportsbook. PokerHost stocks the pond for you; the guaranteed MTTs often offer an overlay and there are 7 daily freerolls. There's not a lot of ring game activity (mostly NL), but the games we saw were chaotic--flop %s of 50% or more. You won't find many strong players in the ring games (plenty of guys willing to talk a big game, though) and the MTT fields were manageable. The software is basic--hand histories are not stored locally, player note aren't obvious and the font size for player bets and stacks is pretty small--but it's fast and stable. If you're looking to multi-table $10+ sit n gos or $2/$4 limit games, this isn't your site. But if you'd like to sharpen your tournament skills in an overlay tournament and maybe play 1-2 NL cash games with fish that throw themselves in your boat, it's worth putting a couple of hundred bucks in an account and working it once a week.

Ring game play clears bonus? yes
The 110% bonus is only applicable to initial deposits. The bonus money will be credited in PokerBucks, promotional dollars that get converted into real money as you play. PokerBucks are released into your account in $5 increments. Every time you contribute to rake at any real money table, 50% of your rake contribution will go towards releasing your PokerBucks into your real money account. In other words, if you contribute $10 in rake, you'll receive $5 back while clearing a bonus. If you play 20 raked hands/hour and contribute 25% of the rake, say $1, you'll clear...20 x $1 x 25% x 50% = $2.50/hour. Figure about 10 hands raked hands to clear $1 of bonus money. To keep your PokerBucks account balance active you must play at least 100 raked hands per month.

  What we liked
\- The site offers regular reload bonuses
- The hand history replayer is superb
- You can can change your background graphics
- Customer service is very responsive; the live help actually works!
- There's a direct link to SBG's Score & Odds web page; ok, we admit it, we bet on sports
  What we didn't like
- It's a small site with limited activity
- The table and bet graphics are pretty small (similar to Paradise)
- It's not obvious when you have notes on a player
- Hand histories are not stored locally
- Online support doesn't work properly; email support was responsive, though
Why you should play the site
- The play in the guaranteed MTTs is pretty weak
- The $1/$2 NL tables routinely have flop%s of 50+%
- 7 daily freerolls; even more free money
- Sharks don't usually swim this far upriver
  For the ring game player
- Activity is mostly NL hold 'em; fixed limit players need to look elsewhere
- The NL play is pretty gruesome; no two cards are left behind on these tables
- Only ring game play counts toward bonuses
  For the tournament player
- The weekly gtd tournament ($5k gtd, $18 buy-in, Sun 9p EST) offers an overlay of 10+%
- Sit n gos seat slowly; 1000 starting chips, blinds change every 10 hands
- The leaderboard matters; the leaderboard is reset monthly; the top 100 have access to a freeroll giving 1 seat to the WSOP 2006; 1st place on the leaderboard also receives $200
- Tournament fees don't count toward clearing bonuses
- The rebuys are funky; you need at least one chip to rebuy; if you bust out, you're out
  For the value player
- The minimum deposit on NETeller is $10
- There are at least 7 daily freerolls to add to build that 10 bucks
- If your AA is cracked on a Tuesday, PokerHost will pay you up to $50; it takes away some of the sting
  Insider tips
- Reload bonuses take the form of instant cash bonuses. Unlike the deposit bonus, this bonus is credited in real money, free for you to use at real money tables and tournaments. To withdraw without forfeiting the bonus, you must fulfill at least 5x 50% of the bonus amount in raked hands at real money tables $1/$2 stakes or higher. If you received a $50 bonus, you'll need to play 25 x 5 = 125 raked hands.

  Software review
PokerHost's software is not particularly feature-rich, but it's fast and reliable. Ring game lobbies contain relevant info (flop %s, avg pot, etc.) and the MTT lobbies are similarly comprehensive. Your hand histories aren't stored locally, but if you retrieve them from PH's server, there's a fine hand replayer available. We thought the action was easy to follow (bet and pot amounts are on the screen by default) but think the site could use larger fonts. Also, it's not obvious when you've pre-selected actions (fold, check, etc.) or have notes on a player. Other items of note: you can change the table background, players can't upload their own images and multi-tabling is limited to 3 tables.
  Hand histories
Hand histories are not stored locally but there's an excellent replayer. As of Jan 06, Poker Host is not supported by PokerTracker. Mucked hands do not show up in hand histories.
