I had kind of an odd month, I broke out of my life nit ways and got a 52" tv along with a ps3 so that I could watch blu-rays. So far I've watched part 1, 2, & 3 of Planet Earth which I originally saw on tv on the discovery channel in sd. It's basically a documentary about the most amazing wild places on earth including the animal/plant life. Even if you hate documentaries about animals you're doing yourself a disservice if you have an hdtv and a br player not to watch this if for only the scenery. I also watched "The Golden Compass" which was pretty cool as well.

As far as poker goes it was a mixed bag. While I had my best poker month ever +$740 I was a huge coinflip in the stars $55/70k from going to the final table feeling like I was the best player there. I guess I run bad before the final table in $55 mtts. Out of 15 or so 55s I've cashed in 4 including a 17th, 13th, and the latest which was an 11th place finish. [[ This is a content summary only.
I know everyone has been waiting and waiting for me to post a blog /sarcasm. Not much has happened for me in the last month or so since I last posted poker wise. My MO has stayed the same as it has since February, pwn the smaller field mtts and get fucked in the larger ones with 5 figure guarantees. I haven’t made a ft with a 5 figure guarantee in months. I continue to post, review a couple of my mtts each week and feel I’m getting better. Since late February when I had my highest cash of 1.3k I’ve essentially done a little worse then BE as I’m down about $600 since then. I feel I’m somewhere between a spewy lag and a guy that is a smart/good lag. I guess there’s nothing I can do but keep my nose to the grindstone and keep playing/improving.

As far as what’s going on in my life I’ve decided to hold off on buying a house until I pay off my car. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

I’ve adjusted to my crazy schedule and doing the little things like going over my past mtts and watching pxf vids. In 35 mtts I’ve made 4 final tables, unfortunately none of them have been in a buy in bigger then $11 and the highest I finished was 6th. I went deep in the 3r and a ftp $26 16k where in order to knock out of the 16k I had to lose nearly 3 consecutive hands AK

The 3r I raised AA in ep, bb called on a Q64 board I bet a little more then half the pot as we both had around 55bbs and the bb seemed to be a pretty competent player. At that point I put him on a weak Q, a set, a middle pair, or some kinda of connector like 56, 54, 57. The turn was a 6, which is a really great card. Villain checked and I checked. I checked for a couple of reasons, 1 this player was good enough that if I 2 barrel he folds everything except AQ, maybe KQ and calls with hands that have me crushed. This way maybe I get value on a river bet against underpairs and and QJ type of hands. [[ This is a content summary only.
I had a horrible May. I had my second worst month ever playing only half my normal volume. I can’t say I’m playing my A game as often as I did on my old schedule, but I’ve been getting unlucky over and over. I’m basically on about a -$900 swing in the last 8 weeks. To some that’s not a big deal but when that constitutes 1/3 of your bank roll it starts looking a bit serious. sngs have kind of been my variance “reducer” but not lately. I’ve ran super bad in those, having sessions where I cash in 1-7 while finishing 4th or 5th in the others.

Some things I’ve noticed that I haven’t been doing on my downswing are reviewing my play, watching videos, and posting on the forums. I used to load up a hh replayer and record that hh with pc recording software as I commented on my play, then watch the recording at least 2x afterwards. [[ This is a content summary only.
For those that don’t know, I got forced into a new schedule in the beginning of April. On this shift I work no more then 3 days of one shift in a row, the 3 shifts are 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am, they rotate in that order. I thought I would play more mtts on this shift since I get some great opportunities to play during prime time on the 7-3 part of the rotation. What I’ve found is I feel like shit as far as trying to concentrate which is a big negative in poker. I also don’t feel like playing since I have no energy and anything I do other then watching tv/playing video games seems like a struggle. The thought of firing up my computer to do battle in a session of mtts for up to 5 hours doesn’t seem like the greatest choice for my leisure time when my brain is fried.

I’ve only played 24 mtts this month, I should have close to 40. I’ve stopped playing as much partly because I’ve been running bad, the new schedule, and I have to watch the spurs play in the playoffs. [[ This is a content summary only.
It was a decent month for me. I made lots of fts, I just couldn't get that 4 figure cash, I was just out of the money to barely in the money of some 5 figure guarantee mtts. Most of my fts were from mtts with less then 150 runners, but a ft is a ft. Here were my stats for the month:

mtts played: 75
cashes: 14
final tables: 7
top 3 finishes: 4
Wins: 1
My biggest cash was $331 for taking down a ftp $8.80.

MTT total profit: $340

In sngs I played 41 $11 STTs for a 39.7% roi and a $179 profit. I was -$34 in the other drunken lower buy in stts I played.

SNG total profit: $135

In cash I ran bad. I'd flop trips on a AQQ board then an A would hit on the river. Or I'd have a flush and the board would pair. Mostly I struggled because cash games are my drunken salvation after bubbling yet another $26/32k when AK<JT on a AJx board.

Cash profit: -$37

Total profit for the month was $411. Not so bad, it's my third best month playing online poker. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

I'm having a pretty rough month in my personal life. And no it's not that bad no one has been diagnosed with cancer or anything. I got forced on a rotating schedule at the beginning of the month. Here's an example of what I work in a 2 week span. M: off, T:7am-3pm, W: 7am-3pm, R: 3pm-11pm, F: 3pm-11pm, S: 11pm-7am, S: 11pm-7am, M: 11pm-7am, T: off, W: off, R: 7am-3pm, F: 7am-3pm, S: 3pm-11pm, S: 3pm-11pm.

It's been pretty brutal on my diet and exercise routine. I find I'm hungry and tired more often then working the same shift every time I work. The upside is I find it's much easier to put in volume as there are tons more mtts available after I work my 7am-3pm shift then working 3pm-11pm everyday.

----

This has been a pretty good month for me so far. In under 60mtts I've made around 9 fts and have had 3 top 3 finishes. The bad part is my biggest cash is $350 iir. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

So far this month has been decent. My 2nd session of the month saw me have a pretty disappointing but slightly profitable day. I finished 27-729 in a stars $3 triple shoot out for a measly $10. I bubbled the final table of a ftp $11 finishing 13-162 for $20. I final tabled 1 of the 2 mtts I wanted to final table. I entered a stars $16.50 5/9, pretty excited as I felt I was playing my best, that feeling didn't last too long. With 18bbs utg+1 I raised KK to 2.5bb got 3 bet, I shoved and AK had me drawing dead on the turn for a disapointing 8th place finish for $220.

I have to give kudos to full tilt poker, they eliminated their 8/180s that never filled up. $8 mtts are a little lower then what I like to play but it's much better then $5 mtts. What they did was create regular scheduled $8 mtts. I'll get to those later. I feel like I've played my best poker each and every month, aside from one hand I love how I played Friday. I ended up bubbling the money in the ftp $26/32k. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

I haven't blogged in awhile mostly because not much is goin on, I didn't think posting about bad beats and running bad would be a good read. I made a few final tables the first week of March and ran bad at said final tables, I finished 4th, 8th, and 9th. I then proceeded to run like windows ME the rest of the month. I did get in 70 or so mtts which for missing 11 days of playing isn't so bad. My average buy in was around $15 and I proceeded to lose $425 for the month. March was by far my worst month of poker.

I've decided that I'm going to fill in my sessions with stts to help even out variance, so far it looks like a good idea. It helps me play better when I only have 1 or 2 mtts left so that I don't get impatient, plus they are profitable at least the $11 sngs I play with rakeback on ftp.

I've grown as a poker player this month. Despite all the bad beats and coolers this month I really still want to play, maybe that's tilt control. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

My last post I talked about how I ran bad and whined like a little girl. I ran average and made a couple of final tables and went fairly deep either bubbling the ft or money in some other mtts. I didn't make any money but it felt good to stop the 27 mtt cashless streak.

I'm relegated to the fact that poker players, especially mtt players are going to have some sick, sick, swings. The best way to combat that is to get as much quality volume as you can. I've started eating better and exercising which has improved my mental sharpness and mood.

As long as I'm playing good, I'll practice good roll management, and get in as much volume as possible. You're going to run bad, it happens. This latest downswing was bad as I just moved up stakes as I play more $20-30 then I used to. Kinda sick to blow $100 on mtt entry fees when you're used to blowing $50.

I don't know if anyone else feels this way, mtt poker doesn't seem all that fun at the moment. After my biggest cash last month I can't get anything going, I have trips bvb, I'm up against a boat, I have trips bvb the other guy gets there and ties with a worse kicker or boats up. And more bad beat blah blah blah blah. I get a large percentage of my volume in on my days off probably at least 50%, despite that I haven't played a single mtt today or yesterday. I haven't cashed in the last 22 mtts I've played some due to a blow up, most losing a big pot with less then 20bb with hands like AK or AQ regardless if I'm ahead/flipping/behind.

I took 3 days off played a great session and had nothing to show for it except to double up a couple of donks who bluffed with npnd and got there. I'm probably being results oriented, in fact I am, it's just really tough to fire up some mtts when absolutely nothing works. Maybe I should take more then 3 days off, maybe a week would be good.
I had a pretty decent month, OK my best month ever. I'm a little jaded that I was a coin flip or a better flop away from having a HUGE month. I ended up $615 from stts and mtts this month with a $50 bonus minus $30 from cash for a total profit of $640. I never thought when I started playing online poker 2 years ago that I would be disappointed with a $640 month, this is a weeks wages for most people. I got deep in 2 50/50s and a 24/24. I had my biggest cash ever around 1.3k and I feel like I'm playing the best poker ever.

I'm making this entry about 48 hours after I took 4/560ish runners in the stars $33/5k. This cash gave was my biggest, $1270. I had a $500 coin flip when I got it in preflop vs a 15bb stack that I had well covered with AQ vs 88. I flopped trips, he hit the 8 on the river. I then tried a resteal and follow up cbet that didn't work. I ended up going out with about 17bbs when I shoved over the maniac buttons perfunctory raise with a perfect resteal hand 89s, he happened to have a hand ATs and he flopped trips and I was drawing dead on the turn. I changed up my strategy instead of playing a lag small ball style I decided to play power poker with an m <= 10 from the last 30 people in.

It worked very well. I don't know how many times I pushed, it was alot, I got called in three spots. JJ>TT, AK>AJ, AQ>88. I went from being 11/14 to being 2/8 until I lost my AQ vs 88 4 handed.
I played 8 mtts last night. I cashed in 3 of them, I was so close to a 4 digit score. I finished 60th in the ftp 24/24 for $69, 160/1179 of the stars 50/50 for $83, 17/1013 of the ftp 50/50 for $355. I essentially busted from the ftp 50/50 when I raised AQ 2.5x with 14bbs in mp. I got called by a donkey who kept calling me and I'd have to lay down when my AQ, KQ didn't connect in 2 other pots. The flop was J8x. I over bet the pot ai as vs this guy it was goin in whether he knew it pf or not. The guy calls with JTs. I don't mind his flop call as my hand screams my 2 big cards missed, I just don't understand calling a 2.5x raise with JTs with 13bbs.

One of my friends said I shove with an M of around 10 around the final table, I'm going to rethink my position on this as I like to make standard raises until I get to 12/13 bbs. Maybe it's not so bad if I have a couple of idiots that will call me light. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

I really had a hum drum, kinda sucky January as far as final tables and big cashes went. The very last day I played a 50/50k and cashed for $414 finishing 13/1400ish runners which saved my ass, it was a pretty tough final 30 that had guys like sheets and bengiec just to name a couple sitting on my left. I generally run over the table when it gets down to the last couple of tables, I simply wasn't allowed to steal so I had to play a little more solidly and lost a couple of big coinflips that would have propelled me to the final table.

I played the most mtts I've played in a single month, 91. I played 37 mtts of at least 180 runners, I made only 2 final tables, as I seemed to get unlucky around the final table in 4 mtts. Just the usual lose the coin flip for most of my 20bb stack, build it back up and repeat. I finished somewhere between 20th and 10th in 4 or 5 mtts which is soul crushing.

Overall I finished up $364 for the month which was my 2nd best month ever. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

This was my first post on a blog on another site in October, I changed a bit of it. I mostly play mtts now, I now play mtts in the range of $5-$55 as my bank roll has grown a little bit since I originally posted this.

Hey guys this is my first post on my first blog. I guess I'll introduce myself. I graduated in '04 from a local college with a B.A. in Computer Information Systems. I live in a small town in Iowa where I am employed at an aluminum mill as a lab tech. Essentially it's a boring job, but pays pretty well and I get 7 days off a month.

My passion right now is poker, specifically tournament poker. I've had pretty decent results since starting internet poker in feb. of '06. I haven't built my bank roll to $10k or anything like that, but I only play 5-15 hours a week. I've turned $200 into $1550 in the 20 months I've been playing. [[ This is a content summary only.
