I was thinking about the few online staking groups that are around and i had the thought of how to describe them as far as play and personality goes. This is what i came up with:

imagine if you will a movie where the new kid comes to a high school and sits with the 3 kids in the whole school that aren't part of a clique, and they tell the main character about the cliques in school. There are the jocks, the nerds, the asians, etc etc. This is my poker version of this:

Bax and sheets: The jocks, there are a ton of them and they are highly successful if not particularly the brightest bunch (player wise)

Timex: The chess club. They are extremely smart and successful if not a bit nerdy at times. However they can have that quirky nerd humor thats really fun but passive in its tone and delivery.

JJ/Sorel: The championship hokey team. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

So I was fortunate enough to final table the Sunday Million. It was pretty exciting and despite my poor fortune to get 7th it was really satisfying after a week of FT bubbles and I played really really well. I cashed for almost 20k which is cool even if I lost a 100k equity pot. I'm not extremely bitter, but obviously I'm not immune to wishing I had won more.

Here is the obligatory final hand: Mill final hand

I've got the full HH that im not sure on if I'm going to make the whole thing available or not publicly, however shaun deeb will probably be making a video, critiquing my play for his training site pokersavvyplus.com. I haven't gotten to play the past few days because of my sleep schedule being so messed up by the Mill FT. Hopefully I can keep it all up for march

So this week has been really solid for me. As of Friday I have final tabled 8 tournaments and am up about 12k this month. It was pretty frustrating yesterday when i got 2nd to a really bad player in the 20r on FTP, but it's great streak of FTs to keep alive. Anyway it's time to piss away the profits, playing the $500 FTOPS omaha right now, plus the $300 6max and the $100 rebuy FTOPS ontop of my normally full and pretty expensive schedule. However if i do put in an FT today it could be pretty huge

So yesterday i started playing at 2pm and played almost all the bigger tournies from then till 10pm. I played something like 22 tournies which is a really full schedule with alot of 6-8 tabling. Most the time this wasnt an issue however i went really deep in the $120 bounty tournament on FTP at 5PM. This left me in a really difficult spot when it's 5 handed at the FT and i have EIGHT OTHER tournies going on. I actually stacked up pretty big in the Stuper on stars without ever really noticing. Anyway i had a few close calls in other tournies and in the bounty tourney on FTP i got 2nd for ~$4800 after including the 4 bounties I had.

I sent an email to FTP asking for the HH and once I get it I will post a few interesting hands. Of what i can think of, i have 1 hand i made what I think based on my read was the best play but ended up with me making a pretty big suckout and then I have another hand with me getting sucked out on pretty bad shortly after for CL stack.
So the super bowl is tomorrow and being as im not from Mass. I hate the patriots and hope they lose. Apparently we are having a party which is kinda weird cause i was planning on going to a friends party. So now it looks like i might split them by doing ours for first half and then going to friends as i havent hung out with that group in a long time. Good part about here is that other people already bought the keg and food and we have a really big living room with a huge few big TV's and a sick surround sound (/brag).

As far as poker goes i havent played a whole lot this past week due to personal reasons but starting next week i probably will get back into it full swing.

Another nice score on UB

UB continues to love me as I played their new $150, 20k guarenteed last night at 9pm. The field had 127 entrants and im torn on how soft i want to say it was. There were definitely a number of fish who only play on UB and played very very poorly but there were also plenty of names i recognized in the field. Either way I was shortstacked for pretty much the entire tournament. One thing i like about UB is that you can really run over alot of players on the short stack and they will not call you when they should. I ended up chipping up nicly on the money bubble (20 players) and using that to maintain my stack on into the FT.

I had the annoyance of having mkind on my left who is a solid player and had the CL. However he kind of played strait forward vs me in that I would raise in LP on the bubble and he'd jam on me when i did which is my own fault cause i knew he would do that (and thus what i mean by strait forward).
So after getting 13th in a major and my 2nd straight week of getting close to a monster score only to get break even on the day money is very frustrating. So I've taken the liberty of doing something a bit more extreme to make winning that much sweeter.

So i issued the following challenge on myself: I must win a tournament with a prize pool over $5k (so 20/180s don't count). Second place no matter how big does not matter, it must be a 1st. Until I do the following condition will remain in place. I will have a mullet. Yes that's right, a mullet. Don't believe me? Have a look for yourself:

business:

party:

so far all i have to show for myself is a sweet new look, however if by sunday i still have failed to get a win i've told my roommates they can shave a $ sign in the top (im really praying this doesnt happen).
Even if that something is just a $44 6am tourney with 59 runners. I actually was telling deeb when i joined it i was playing it so that i could just finally have a win. Sure enough it was super super soft and I was able to run people over when play was tight and especially shorthanded when almost no one adjusted. The win for was like $850 or so which is by no means steller but nothing to snub either. Also anything to get closer to out of makeup i will take. Infact i will probably start playing 20/180s on stars during my hours when not alot of tournies are going on (like mid afternoon). This way i can get a low variance way of hopefully atleast breaking me even through the other tournies i fail to cash until i can hit a big score or atleast that is my theory (i have a very good record of crushing the 180s on stars).

So it is now 4:00 AM on sunday and i have to play the warmup in 9 hours. However i just woke up, 2hrs ago. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

So just played my first sunday under the wafflecrush banner and was looking to get off to a good start. Now obviously i know that it is a sunday and im bound to lose money most the time and often alot, still i wanted to just put out a good performance. I feel like I played probably some of the best poker i've played in awhile and the break i've had and talking to shaun deeb has also helped. I'm playing a stronger more aggressive game and am making fewer mistakes. This is shown by the fact that i built alot of big stacks in tournies. Sadly i only cashed 2 of the 15 or so tournies i played (the sunday mill being one of them however). I just busted in tons of them on the bubble to races or sick beats for often huge stacks. I was even CL in the mulligan for awhile but would eventually bust in a monster pot with QQ in the small blind vs AK of the button. [[ This is a content summary only.
This is a post i made on 2+2, thought i'd share it here:

So I've often thought of these sort of scenario's and i thought i would ask OOT what their thoughts are on this sort of subject. Let's assume you could send a highly trained seal team back in time to England in the year 1700 when they were a world powerhouse. They understand the times and the language. They are instructed to topple the government and install a different puppet ruler (let's assume that this is someone from our time period who is capable of pretending to be a current era noble). So just killing the ruler and causing chaos isn't enough, they need to cause a regime change that gets a selected person with no previous political fame elected. [[ This is a content summary only.
So after talking with the wafflecrush guys some the past few days I am now officially playing under their stake for ONLINE play. Live is still on my own dime however it might be something we discuss eventually in the future. The terms of the deal I wont reveal however lets just expect to see me putting in a large volume of online tournaments over the next few months. I'm really excited to do well and haven't been this motivated to play in a long time. I think it's the combination of not having to worry about my roll as well as a chance to prove my ability as a poker player to good players who have a direct interest in how i do.

Also i wanted to do a PLB bet with my friend for this month but he's already in a big one with the pocket 5s challenge along with being in the bahamas and thus not going to put the volume in that he is going to want to if he wants to win the bet. However we will be doing it in february for sure.

so today i decided to shortstack some 5/10 as i had done it in the past and it's extremly profitable so far. I prefer doing it at full ring, buying in for 200 and just waiting for good hands and making the occasional open raise/resteal. So often players will call you with weak pairs just preying to bust or double you so that you will leave. It's basically alot of times just getting paid $200 to just go away. I play with a 2 buyin stop loss and when i hit it, im done for the next hour. So far i've only hit this twice out of not too many hands. Here are some of the standard hands that go on:

Played a half dozen or so tournies tonight as it's my first real night of no responsibilities. Started out decently well with me cashing the 1st 2 tournies despite building up a real big stack in one only to lose when guy raises AK in LP and real aggro guy on the button shoves. I know his range is huge and im well ahead so i over shove w/99. Original raiser as i said has AK, and the flop is clear but turn is a K and i lose a near CL pot.

Everything else basically involved me building up big stacks early and then blowing it late. Some was my fault some was coolers some suckouts. Had a few spots where i raised hands like ATo only for short stack to shove and im priced in to call and lose to QQ etc. Then plenty of the old AK < AQ and random race loses and i end the night with a moderate loss though nothing much.
It's freaking impossible to make my family members understand poker. I went and visited with my grandparents, cousins, etc today and they were all shocked to hear about me playing poker (the ones who didn't know). The ones who did know still think its luck. Also if one more person says i must just count cards and then when i tell them "no you cant count cards in poker" they continue to argue with me about it. WHICH ONE OF US DOES THIS FOR A LIVING? DO I TELL YOU HOW TO BE OLD OR WHATEVER IT IS YOU DO!? NO!

I mean i love my family, but what sucks with them is that unlike other people I can just be like forget it and not bring it up, however these people are related to me and it's hard to explain when they already have their minds made up. It annoys the hell out of me. Atleast i should be getting some presents or something, i may be almost 22 but fuck it i still like getting presents under the tree

So there are 2 topics on the forums today that i found interesting. Let's start with the JJ thing. There is alot of controversy surrounding JJ and if he should be allowed to play, was his apology real or just a sham to get people off his back before the PCA, etc.

Basically i think he has done quite a few things that shouldn't be forgiven, yet at the same time he was young and foolish. I used to do alot of stupid shit and think i knew it all and i'm sure in 5 years i'll look back at this point in my life and think the same thing. The best thing JJ can do is reveal his accounts that he has played on, precisely how many tournies he multi-accounted and the amount won. He has to completely bare himself and expose his faults to the poker world in order to be forgiven, if he does this he can at least rebuild his reputation. He should also try and be as active as possible in the poker forums trying to help with hand analysis and remaining seen. [[ This is a content summary only.
so with nothing better, me and shaun deeb came up with a drinking game. Basically i would rail him in a single tourney, whenever he opened, it was sip from drink. When he 3 bet, its a shot, 4bet is a full beer. This game has exciting potential imo as if you and other person were doing it at same time with them railing you, it could be a WHOLE lot of fun. Toss in stuff for busting etc, who knows how drunk u could get along with the shit talking, its just alot of fun imo

So final part of this trip report that got delayed pretty much indeffinitly due to it getting garbled and I was too pissed off to rewrite it. Now i figure what the hell, i have nothing else to do lets do it:

So day 2, the tournament starts back up at 2pm and despite how tired i am, i'm so psyched about it that when i wake up 6 hours after going to bed i am unable to sleep. The good news though is a feel alot better. Going such a long time with such focus is just really rough and i was begining to feel just plain sick from the wear on my body the crappy food that i was unable to eat much of because of being so sedetary, tired and nervous. So compared to that 6 hours of sleep feels like heaven. Anyway i spend most that morning just chilling in the room and browsing 2+2. I also send out a few text messages to brag and call my mom to wish her a happy mothersday because i'm a good child. [[ This is a content summary only.
So now we're in the money and i can tell my table feels like its won the lottery and i think a few guys even called their wives to tell them about their mighty accomplishments. I just wanted to go to bed. I even gave serious consideration to busting just so i could go to sleep. I leave the theater/poker room and call one of my friends and ask him to buy me one of those starbucks expresso shot things. Now if any of you has had one of these, you should know they are liquid crack. My friend brings it to me in the poker room and i drink it and am like popeye after he gets his spinich and am feeling a thousand times better and am ready to play some poker... just as soon as i get dealt a hand. "Yup anytime" i tell myself, i steal a number of blinds in position but am back in card comma and on life support as the blinds hit 600/1200 and a trillion chip ante (incase you havent figured out, the antes are quite large live).
Waking up after almost 12 hours of sleep is an amazing thing. Even more so when u had spent the previous 10 hours in a car as I had done driving to New Orleans with a friend. There is however an issue, it's about 11pm. I say to myself, hey its ok, I'll play cash games all night and when I bust in the tourney tomorrow I can crash whenever I want (notice the confidence in my play here is key). So I head across the street to the Harrahs casino and cut past half the city playing slots and find the poker room. I sit down at a nice juicy 2/5 game where your aloud to buyin for half the big stack, and with 2 guys with aprx 5k each infront of them, its more then I need. I buy in for 1k and am happy to see that both the big stacks are absolutly horrible. Sadly I would find out over the course of 10 hours of play that it doesnt matter how you play when you run like god. [[ This is a content summary only.
So im stuck at home for the next week or 2 with my family. I probably won't play a whole lot cause it's too hard for me to focus on playing cash games on a laptop for a long period of time and with all the crap from my family they dont really allow me much time for MTT's. Anyway I figured while im here i might as well get started trying to write one of these blogs things and see if i can make it worth reading.

Still on a kind of shitty downswing. Part of it is my inability to allow myself to fully focus on 1 time of game, be it cash or MTT's. I know im not putting in the volume i need to counter the variance of MTT's but it's kind of a pain to get more cash online and it is extremly taxing to grind out the smaller stake MTT's. Have talked with a few people about staking deals, but nothing really has come up that is fair and worthwhile for myself and the potential backer. [[ This is a content summary only.
